Peyronie's Treatment
Peyronie's disease is a condition in which plaque or scar tissue build up in the penis. The buildup of plaque and scar tissue forces the penis to bend during erection. Peyronie's disease is treatable.-
Symptoms
-
Symptoms of Peyronie's disease may include discomfort during intercourse or pain during erection. The penis may also appear curved or bent downward.
Diagnosis
-
A physical examination by a physician and an ultrasound of the surrounding tissues are typically used to diagnose Peyronie's disease.
Oral Treatment
-
Oral medication such as potaba may be prescribed by your physician. Potaba helps soften the plaque associated with Peyronie's disease.
Injections
-
Treatments using penile injections such as verapamil may help reduce the curvature associated with Peyronie's disease. Several treatments using verapamil penile injections may be required in order to get the desired outcome.
Surgery
-
Peyronie's disease can be treated surgically either through tissue grafting, or by using solid or inflatable cylinder implants.
