Treatment For Acne Indent Scars

Acne indent scars are caused by severe bouts of acne. There are a number of different methods used to reduce or eliminate acne indent scars.

Wear Sunscreen

• Extended exposure to sunlight can delay healing of acne lesions which increases the likelihood that they will develop into scars. Wear a strong sunscreen to prevent this.

Alpha-Hydroxy Acid and Beta-Hydroxy Acid

• These two ointments establish the proper pH balance on the skin of the face which fosters increased scar tissue healing.

Avoid Picking

• Picking at scars or undergoing any further damage to the scarred area can inhibit recovery and actually increase the long-term damage.

Tretinoin

• Tretinoin is an ointment that can increase that rate at which skin lesions heal and can also cause scar reduction in certain cases.

Laser Resurfacing

• Laser resurfacing removes the top layer of damaged, scarred skin and can permanently remove indent scars caused by acne.
