      Get a physical. See your doctor to determine what is causing your hoarseness. Your doctor may refer you to another medical specialist such as an allergist or ear, nose and throat doctor.

      Take your antibiotics. Hoarseness is commonly a symptoms of an infection. Upper respiratory infections frequently cause you to lose your voice. Antibiotics will eliminate the infection, which will resolve your hoarseness. Finish all your antibiotics to make sure the infection completely goes away.

      Humidify the air. Hoarseness may be caused by dryness in the air. Switch on your humidify to add humidity to the air. If you do not have a humidifier, a bowl or pot of water placed in the room will moisten the air.
