How to Promote a Healthy Liver
A healthy liver is important to your well being. The liver filters toxins out of our bodies and it stores important vitamins that we need and releases them into our system, as we require them. Your liver also metabolizes medicines so they are easier for the body to utilize. The liver helps keep your body temperature at an optimal level that is conducive to proper blood clotting. It is imperative that you do things that promote a healthy liver.Instructions

Get your hepatitis vaccinations. If your doctor approves, get hepatitis A and hepatitis B vaccinations. Hepatitis is a disease of the liver that causes liver damage, inflammation, pain, nausea, vomiting, weight loss and jaundice. Hepatitis A and B are preventable if you get vaccinated. There is no vaccine for hepatitis C.

Drink plenty of fluids. Drinking fluids, especially water is essential for a healthy liver. Water assists the liver in removing toxins from the body.

3
Skip the alcohol. Alcohol can damage your liver and cause cirrhosis of the liver. Although the liver can regenerate itself, liver damage related from excessive alcohol consumption may be permanent.

4
Do not smoke. Carcinogens (cancer causing chemicals) that are in cigarette smoke get filtered through the liver. This exposes the liver to unhealthy toxins that can damage liver tissue. If you cannot quit completely, try to cut down.

Skimp on pain relievers. Some pain relievers can promote liver disease. This is especially true of non-aspirin over-the-counter pain relievers such as acetaminophen. The effect is even more dangerous if this medication is taken with alcohol. If you must take a non-aspirin pain reliever, take only the recommended dose, and never take it with alcohol.
