How to Cook for the Fructose Intolerant
Fructose is sugar found in many syrups, fruits and condiments. It can also be found in many processed foods and soft drinks. According to the Mayo Clinic, it is also found in table sugar, and can be found in foods that list high-fructose corn syrup as an ingredient. Table sugar, honey, sorbitol, sweetened milk, confectioner's sugar, powdered sugar, fruit juice and flavored water also have fructose. If you are diagnosed with fructose malabsorption, you must eliminate or restrict consumption of fructose with a diet high in vegetables, lean meats and vitamin supplements to receive the nutrients you would normally gain from eating fruit.Instructions

1
Avoid fruit juices and food that contains fruit. Although high in vitamins and nutrients, fruit contain fructose, which can upset the stomach and cause symptoms similar to irritable bowel syndrome.
-
2
Thoroughly cook your vegetables. Vegetables that are completely cooked lose many of their nutrients, including fructose. Limit your consumption of tomatoes, carrots, corn and sweet potatoes.
-
3
Avoid desserts. Pies, cakes, chips and other snacks contain fructose, sorbitol and other ingredients that contain sugar.
-
4
Switch from sugar to artificial sweeteners. Artificial sweeteners do not contain fructose, which makes it suitable for cooking when sugar is needed.
