Vericose Vein Home Remedy
Varicose veins are bulging, twisted veins that do not move blood efficiently. They commonly appear in the legs and feet. Many natural treatments might be beneficial for reducing their appearance, preventing new ones from forming and treating symptoms. The only way to completely remove existing varicose veins, however, is surgical removal.-
Lifestyle Choices to Promote Vein Health
-
Regular exercise promotes overall vein health and can prevent new varicose veins from forming. Aim for at least 30 minutes of activity several days a week. A high-fiber diet is good for healthy veins. Increase your consumption of whole grains, fruits and vegetables. A daily fiber intake of 35 g is optimal. If you cannot meet this through your diet, consider taking fiber supplements.
Natural Supplementation
-
Several natural supplements have proven beneficial for treating varicose veins. You do not need to use every supplement listed as many offer similar benefits. Nutritional and herbal supplements are generally safe but, like pharmaceutical medications, they can cause side effects and are not appropriate in certain circumstances. Consult with your doctor about using natural supplements before taking any.
The University of Maryland suggests the following supplements to treat varicose veins.

Oligomeric proanthocyandin complexes (OPCs) are substances found in pine bark and grape seed extract that reduce swelling and leakage in the veins. Choose one and take 720 mg of grape seed daily or 120 mg of pine bark daily. Grape seed extract is widely used in France to treat varicose veins. Do not use grape seed if you take blood-thinning medications. The herbs horse chestnut (250 mg twice a day) and gotu kola (200 mg twice a day) have both shown to be beneficial for treating varicose veins. Do not use horse chestnut if you have liver or kidney problems or take blood-thinning medications. Gotu kola is not appropriate if you have liver disease. Butcher's broom relieves swelling; take 150 mg three times a day.
