Cures for Adrenal Gland Problems

The adrenal gland is located above the kidneys and provides stress response by pumping cortisol and adrenaline through the body. Adrenal glands can become overactive and can become fatigued. This can cause a host of problems but they can be cured.
  1. Cushing's Syndrome

    • Cushing's syndrome is a disorder caused by the adrenal gland excreting too much cortisol. Cushing's syndrome is treated according to the underlying cause. Laboratory tests are run to determine whether tumors in the adrenal gland are the cause of the problem. If it is determined that a tumor is at fault, it will be removed surgically. If the patient has been taking glucocorticoid for the treatment of another disease, then a doctor will discontinue use of the hormone as this may be causing the syndrome.

    Adrenal Fatigue

    • Adrenal fatigue should be treated with the use of vitamins, herbs and hormones. Adrenal fatigue can cause body fatigue, insomnia and irritable bowel syndrome among other symptoms. To treat adrenal fatigue take a good multivitamin containing vitamin C, E, niacin and free form amino acids. You can use a series of herbs to help treat adrenal fatigue as well. Cordyceps, a mushroom used for adrenal conditions is particularly effective. Hormones such as DHEA, Pregnenolone and Progesterone Cream are all hormone treatments used to help cure adrenal problems.

    Adrenal Cancer

    • If you have a tumor in the adrenal gland that is cancerous you would need to have surgery to remove the tumor. Once you had the surgery you would undergo chemotherapy to make sure it does not spread. Removing the adrenal gland will cause an imbalance in hormones so you would have to take hormone supplements to replace them. Adrenal cancer often recurs and can be fatal.
