How to Improve Triglyceride Levels
Triglycerides are a form of fat. If your level of triglycerides is too high, you have a condition called hypertriglyceridemia. This can lead to heart and liver problems as well as pancreatitis. It can be genetic but you are most likely to have this condition if you have unhealthy lifestyle habits or have other conditions that contribute to it. 1
Tell your doctor about all medications you are using. Certain medications can contribute to hypertriglyceridemia like hormonal medications and birth control pills. He can suggest alternatives if necessary.

2
Eat a healthy diet. Consume foods low in saturated fat and sugar. This includes fish, lean meats, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans and legumes. Aim for 35 g of fiber daily. A fiber-rich diet helps move excess fat out of the body through the stool and prevents it from being reabsorbed. Eat healthy fats like those found in nuts, seeds and olive oil.

Engage in aerobic activity for 30 minutes at least three times a week. This includes running, biking, walking and swimming. Your doctor can help you design an exercise plan.

4
Manage other health problems diligently to keep your triglyceride levels down. Certain conditions, like diabetes or thyroid disease, can contribute to high triglyceride levels and poor management can make this problem worse.
