Hyperkalemia
-
Morinda citrifolia contains potassium, and when combined with potassium supplements or any type of medication that increases potassium levels in the body, such as medications for hypertension like diuretics and ACE inhibitors. Over time, increased levels of potassium in your body have the potential to cause hyperkalemia, which can damage your heart and cardiovascular system.

When taken with drugs that thin your blood like warfarin, coumadin and heparin, Morinda citrifolia increases your risk of developing uncontrollable bleeding. This is especially dangerous if you have an accident or must undergo emergency surgery.
Risks
-
In some cases, patients who drink excessive amounts of juice derived from Morinda citrifolia experience liver failure. It is unknown whether taking a Morinda citrifolia supplement can cause a similar side effect.
