Cortizone is the brand name for a hydrocortisone topical cream used to minimize inflammation. This medication can be used to treat inflammation caused by eczema, psoriasis and allergic reactions. Do not use Cortizone if you are allergic to hydrocortisone.-

Serious side effects of using Cortizone include blurred vision, abnormal heartbeats, insomnia, weight gain and fatigue. Less severe side effects include itchy, peeling and burning skin, stretch marks, and blisters.
Proper Use

Use Cortizone exactly as prescribed. Do not adjust the amount of medication used. Avoid using Cortizone for longer than prescribed.

Do not use other medicated skin creams when using Cortizone. Avoid using skin creams with alcohol, spices, lime or astringents.
Activities to Avoid

Do not cover the skin when using Cortizone. This can increase the amount of medication absorbed and produce undesired side effects. Avoid using Cortizone on the face, particularly near the eyes and mouth.

Children are more sensitive to Cortizone. Consult a doctor before using on a child. Cortizone will not treat skin infections caused by viruses, bacteria or fungus.
