Natural Healing for Body Odor
Body odor is an embarrassing problem that many people suffer from on a daily basis. It can be caused by diet, stress, anxiety and a wide variety of medical conditions including diabetes, low blood sugar, menopause, yeast infections and bacterial infections. There are many remedies are available, but you should contact your doctor if body odor is a new symptom.-
Bathing and Exercise
-
Luckily, there are many home remedies that are easy to use and cost effective while reducing body odor. One of the easiest remedies is to bathe three times a day. When you come out of the shower or tub dry all areas of the body, especially between the toes.
Also try washing your armpits with alcohol or white vinegar, then apply baking soda. When you bathe, add several drops of rose water to the tub to eliminate odor for several hours.
Substitute apple cider vinegar for deodorant, as it's known for reducing the pH level of the skin, hence reducing odor.
If your body odor is caused by stress or anxiety, try yoga or meditation. Other home remedies include removing stress from your life and deep breathing exercises.
Clothing and Shoes
-
For foot odor, wear shoes made from natural materials such as leather, which allows air to get to the feet. Also wear cotton or wool socks to absorb wetness. Changing socks one to two times per day may help as well. Allow your feet to get air by going barefoot as much as possible.
Body odor can be reduced by wearing clothing made of natural fibers such as cotton, wool, or silk. These materials allow the skin to breathe. Armpit odor can be reduced by applying antiperspirant each night before bed.
Dietary Tips
-
What you put in your body also matters. Many people have trouble metabolizing certain foods. Try eliminating garlic, onions and caffeine from your diet. Instead, add a los of fruits, vegetables and fiber-rich foods. Reduce your consumption of dairy products, eggs, chocolate, sugar, beans, alcohol, coffee and black tea as these can cause body odor in sensitive individuals. Increasing your water intake will help reduce odor.
Supplements can help control body odor, such as drinking a cup of sage tea each day. Try a magnesium supplement of 200 to 500 milligrams per day. Another natural deodorizer is chlorophyll. Add 2 to 3 tsp. chlorophyll to your diet, or increase the amount of dark leafy greens you consume, such as spinach.
If you find that none of the natural remedies are working, contact your physician, as you may have an underlying medical condition that needs to be treated.
