Signs of Bladder Problems

Your bladder is a hollow organ that stores urine after it has been produced by your kidneys. There are several conditions that may affect your bladder including infection, prolapsed bladder, overactive bladder, neurogenic bladder, incontinence, interstitial cystitis, hematuria, bladder stones and bladder cancer.

Painful Urination

• Dysuria (painful urination) may indicate a variety of conditions including bladder infections, bladder stones, neurogenic bladder and bladder cancer.

Blood in Your Urine

• Hematuria (blood in your urine) may indicate bladder infection, bladder cancer, bladder stones or other conditions (such as sickle cell disease).

Increased Frequency

• Increased frequency of urination could be caused by bladder infections, bladder cancer, bladder stones and interstitial cystitis.

Urgency

• Urgency may be caused by neurogenic bladder, bladder infections, bladder stones and interstitial cystitis.

Difficulties Emptying the Bladder

• Problems emptying your bladder may be caused by a prolapsed bladder, stones or neurogenic bladder.
