Xanex Side Effects

Xanax is a prescription medication administered to patients with panic disorders. This drug, along with other prescription medications, can cause mild to severe side effects. If you have any concerns or if serious side effects occur, call your doctor.

  1. Drowsiness

    • Drowsiness is the most common side effect of Xanax. According to drugs.com, 41 percent of patients reported drowsiness during clinical trials of Xanax.

    Severe Allergic Reactions

    • Some patients experience severe allergic reactions from taking Xanax, including hives, a blistered or peeling rash, chest tightness, facial swelling and breathing difficulties. Any allergic reaction should be reported to a physician; swelling and breathing problems required immediate medical attention.

    Mental Changes

    • According to drugs.com, Xanax may cause mental changes such as anxiety, depression and extreme moodiness or irritability.

    Other Side Effects

    • Other common side effects of Xanax include lightheadedness, libido changes, dry mouth, constipation, increased saliva, appetite changes, weight changes and problems with concentration problems.

    Warning

    • Xanax can cause suicidal actions and thoughts. Seizures, extreme dizziness and trouble with speech are other dangerous side effects.
