Natural Herbs for Fibroids
-
Shrink Fibroids
-
Herbal remedies will not eliminate fibroids completely but can significantly reduce them so that they do not create problems or pain. Try red clover to shrink fibroids. You should not use red clover during menopausal years because it could have the opposite effect.
Try dandelion, milk thistle seed and yellow dock root, herbs that work against fibroids by strengthening the liver. This helps to metabolize estrogen and remove it from the body so the hormone cannot play a role in the development of fibroids.
Symptom Relief
-
To address the symptoms most commonly associated with fibroids--cramping, excessive bleeding and possibly anemia--try red raspberry and motherwort, which can strengthen the uterus and reduce cramping and bleeding.
Tissue Elimination.
-
Once your fibroids begin to dissolve, take herbs that can help the blood and lymph systems eliminate the tissue. Try prickly ash bark, cleavers, burdock, ginger and mullein.
Preventing Regrowth
-
Use goldenseal, an anti-inflammatory, in combination with cramp bark, false unicorn and red raspberry, to help prevent regrowth of fibroids.
Other herbs that help prevent regrowth of fibroids are black cohosh, dandelion and pau d'arco, which herbalist Sarah Abernathy calls a powerful anti-tumor herb. Create your own anti-fibroid tea. Measure the following into 1 qt. of water: 1 tsp. each of cramp bark, burdock root, motherwort leaves and wild yam rhizome, and 1/2 tsp. each of prickly ash bark, cleavers leaves, mullein leaves and ginger rhizome. Bring the herbs and water to a boil. Allow it to simmer for a few minutes, turn the heat off, and allow to steep for 20 minutes. Strain the herbs and drink.
