Home Remedy for Oozing Hives
Hives, known medically as urticaria, is a skin ailment that can leave pale red rings and patches anywhere on the surface of your skin. Hives are caused by a chemical known as histamine, usually in conjunction with an allergic reaction to a trigger. You do not need to have an allergy to develop hives. They can accompany a common illness and in some cases are caused by simple stress.-
Cool Compression
-
Red, irritated and oozing hives can be incredibly painful and itchy. Try making a cool compress by running a clean washcloth under cold water. Apply the compress to the affected area. The cool compression should help to relieve some of the pain and potential swelling.
Herbal Tea
-
The stress you're feeling because of your recent outbreak can actually make your hives worse. Drink a cup of calming herbal tea such as chamomile, peppermint or even passionflower. These herbal teas are known for aiding in relaxation and soothing the nerves.
Oatmeal & Cornstarch Paste
-
Mix 2 cups of oatmeal and 3 tablespoons of cornstarch in a bowl. Add a small amount of warm water and stir the mixture together until it makes a paste. Dab the mixture onto your oozing hives and allow it to dry for 15 to 30 minutes. The cool paste will relieve some of the itching and the mixture itself will help to dry up your hives. Repeat the process as often as necessary.
Cornstarch Bath
-
Fill your bathtub about half full with warm (not hot) water. Add 1/2 cup of cornstarch and 1/2 cup of baking soda to the water and allow it to dissolve.
