What Can I Do to Cleanse My Body of Toxins?

When toxins are accumulated at a much faster rate than the body can eliminate them, the body starts to suffer. Eating a diet full fried food, sugars and fats leads to toxins accumulating in the body. Smoking, excessive drinking and stress are other causes of a toxic environment. Detoxing the body is a way to eliminate toxins from the body. Detox helps the organs to rest.
  1. Liver Flush

    • Start with a liver flush. There are several ways to do this. An East European approach involves lemon juice and olive oil. Follow it up with an enema from the drug store.

To start this flush, you will need a hot water bottle, the juice of five organic lemon and virgin olive oil. Make sure to do this flush at night and in the presence of others; you will not want to be alone if the flush makes you feel weak.

Fill the bottle with hot water and hold it against the right side of your abdomen while relaxing for 30 minutes. Drink two tablespoons of lemon juice and wait for 15 minutes. Then, drink two tablespoons of the virgin olive oil. Repeat this in 15-minute intervals, until all of the lemon juice is gone. Within an hour or so, you will have a bowel movement. Depending on how much toxic strain that is currently on your liver, also expect to pass small gallstones.

    Dietary Changes

    • Change your eating habits. Incorporate fresh fruits and vegetables to your diet. Drink a cup of green tea every morning. Eat a serving of lean protein with each meal. Restrict the use of animal fats and sugars to once a week. Drink at least eight glasses of water every day. Take a multivitamin supplement to increase your liver, kidney and intestinal health.

    Continual Maintenance

    • To continue the detox, incorporate a visit to a sauna, get a massage and exercise to your regular routine. Try a one-week cleansing diet every few months if your physician approves. Eat only raw, organic foods during the cleanse, avoiding processed foods.

Steamy baths and showers help to eliminate toxins. They open the pores and allow toxins to seep out through the sweat glands. Take a weekly purifying bath by filling the tub with hot water, adding one pound each of Epsom salt and baking soda. Relax in the water until it starts to turn cool.

    Warning

    • Consult with your physician before attempting a detox or cleanse. If you have certain health problems involving the kidney, liver or lower intestines, colon cleanses and flushes are not for you. Passing gallstones can cause spasm-like pains.
