Home Treatments for Fingernail Fungus

Even though it is not painful or harmful to your overall health, fingernail fungus is not a condition that should be ignored. It begins as a white or yellowish spot, and can lead to a full discoloration, thickening, and breaking of the nail. There are some proven home treatments for fingernail fungus that will help you get rid of this annoying condition.
  1. Peroxide

    • Hydrogen peroxide works well at killing fungus. Soak your fingernails in a small bowl of the peroxide for 5 minutes, daily. Many people have experienced success with this home treatment in just one week of implementation.

    Vinegar

    • White vinegar is another effective home treatment for fingernail fungus. When used continuously, it can completely kill the fungus currently infecting the nails. Soak your nails in a solution of one part vinegar and two parts warm water. Soak the affected nail once a day to eliminate fingernail fungus. Be aware that vinegar may dry out or irritate the skin. If dryness does occur, reduce treatment to 3 or 4 days per week.

    Tea Tree Oil

    • Tea tree oil has been used for years as a home remedy for fingernail fungus. Lather the edges and underside of the nail twice a day to get rid of fingernail fungus.
