Vitamins for Spider Vein Treatment

Spider veins are a thin layer of veins close to the skin's surface, usually showing up on the legs, thighs and face. When veins no longer function properly, the veins can get blockages and clots in the skin and start to branch out like a thin spider web, hence the name spider veins. There are many vitamins available for the treatment of spider veins to improve circulation and weakened veins.
  1. Vitamins

    • Vitamins that are helpful in treating spider veins are Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Vitamin K. Vitamin A helps to improve skin and healing. Vitamin B may improve skin tissue, cell function and blood vessels. Vitamin C is loaded with citrus bioflavonoids, antioxidants and aids in circulation. Vitamin E can help pain, swelling in the legs and improve blood flow; and Vitamin K helps support capillaries walls. When applied directly on the skin, Vitamin K cream may also decrease the appearance of discolored veins.

Lecithin is another recommended vitamin for the treatment of spider veins because of its ability to assist with digestion and get rid of fats. Daily doses of magnesium aid in calming the arteries and muscles, while regular amounts of zinc help tissue heal. Copper may help with connective tissue surrounding the veins and improve elasticity.

    Vitamins Used With Supplements

    • Common herbal supplements in the treatment of spider veins include horse chestnut, butcher's broom and grape seed extract. Herbalists advise taking these supplements in conjunction with vitamins. Horse chestnut often reduces the swelling and heaviness most people complain of with spider veins and varicose veins, reduces inflammation and improves circulation. Grape seed extract has Vitamin C and antioxidants, and may help with circulation. Butcher's broom helps the veins become less constricted. Bilberries help make the capillary walls stronger and prevent varicose veins. Hawthorne extract has Vitamin C in it and may help with blood flow, circulation and heart function. These supplements are high in vitamins and nutrients and may help with tissue and cardiovascular function.
