Hemorrhoid Treatment Without Surgery
Hemorrhoid, also commonly called piles, is defined as a medical condition characterized by the inflammation of veins present in the anal and rectal regions. Few of the common factors causing hemorrhoids include straining during bowel movements, and exerting increased pressure on the veins present in the above mentioned regions. Individuals suffering from piles often develop symptoms like excessive bleeding; itching feeling hence causing extreme discomfort. A Mayo clinic study reports that almost 50 percent individuals suffer from piles at some stage of their lives. However, luckily numerous effective treatment methods are available apart from surgeries that help in curing hemorrhoids completely.-
Drugs and Medications
-
Medical practitioners often prescribe certain counter creams, medications and ointments to persons suffering from hemorrhoids. These drugs and creams often contain components such as hazel and hydrocortisone, which according to a Mayo clinic study help in minimizing the size of the hemorrhoid tissue and hence eventually cause the withering and falling off of the tissue. This reduces the discomfort by curing the condition. These creams are generally prescribed for seven to 10 days; however their overuse can lead to serious side effects such as skin rashes and thinning among others.
Minimal Invasive Methods
-
Certain invasive forms of treatments are also frequently recommended by doctors to individuals suffering from hemorrhoids. Some common invasive treatment techniques include rubber band ligation, sclerotherapy and the coagulation methods. Rubber band ligation is a form of invasive treatment method in which four to five rubber bands are placed near the hemorrhoid tissue of the patients. These bands help in cutting off the blood supply reaching the tissues and hence result in their withering and falling off within seven to 10 days. In the sclerotherapy treatment technique, certain chemical solutions are injected into the hemorrhoid tissues of the individual. These chemicals damage the hemorrhoid tissues and hence help in treating the condition.
In the coagulation method, the hemorrhoids are exposed infrared and laser radiations as it helps in damaging the excess hemorrhoid tissues and hence cure the condition by resulting in their eventual falling off.
Natural Treatment Methods
-
Various natural methods to treat patients suffering from piles are also available. Some such common natural treatment options include applying natural astringents such as honey, aloe vera, witch hazel among others; and placing an ice pack on the external hemorrhoid tissues as it helps in reducing the pain and inflammation of the veins. Doctors also often recommend Sitz bath, which is another common natural method used for curing hemorrhoids. In this method, patients are made to sit in a bathtub filled with warm water for around 15 to 20 minutes with water reaching their anal region. This form of bathing is recommended several times a day as the warm water helps in reducing the pain associated with hemorrhoids and hence reduce the individual's discomfort.
