How to Make a Burdock Fungal Remedy

Burdock is a natural plant that has been used for centuries as a home remedy for all types of skin conditions--including eczema, psoriasis, warts and fungal infections. It is believed to have antibacterial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. Scientific studies of the benefits of the burdock plant have been conducted on animals, but there have not been enough studies on humans to confirm these benefits. Nevertheless, burdock continues to be used in tincture, tea, powder and pill form. A burdock decoction can be made at home and applied topically to treat fungal growth. Before making the remedy, however, see the warnings below.

Instructions

    • 1

Boil burdock root or leaves in a pot filled with about 2 cups water. Boiling the herb in water for later use is known as a "decoction."

    • 2

Discard the spent burdock. Wait for the decoction to cool, then pour it into a plastic water bottle.

    • 3

Pour some of the burdock decoction onto a piece of gauze or clean washcloth. Wring out excess into the water bottle.

    • 4

Place the burdock-saturated gauze or washcloth onto the area containing the fungal growth. Allow the burdock to absorb into your skin for about 30 minutes. Refresh as needed.
