Stop smoking aids are used to rid the body of nicotine and to eliminate the use of cigarettes. These stop smoking aids can be very effective, but they can also come with some side effects. These side effects can be severe in the beginning but usually taper off over time.

• Chantix is a prescription drug used for smoking cessation. Some common side effects that can be seen with it are nausea, vomiting and altered dreams.

• Nicotine gum is used as a replacement for the nicotine that you would get from smoking. Some side effects that can come with it are headaches, rashes, upset stomach and hiccups.

Zyban

• Zyban is another pharmaceutical drug for smoking cessation. Some side effects of its use include insomnia, constipation and concentration problems.

Nasal Spray

• There is also a nasal spray that can be used to stop smoking. Some side effects of using it include irritation in the nose, watery eyes and bleeding from the nose.
