How to Take Burdock

Burdock is a natural herb known for its cleansing properties that is used to treat a variety of ailments. The herb is traditionally used to clear toxins from the blood, rid the body of excess water and treat various skin conditions like psoriasis. It can be used in many forms, including as a dried root, tincture (a solution containing alcohol and a part of the herb), fluid extract and capsules. In appearance, it has a round shape with tiny nettles and a purple flower springing out from the top. Here are some guidelines when taking this herb.

      Apply burdock fluid extract topically to treat acne. Pour a few drops of the extract onto a cotton pad and dab on the affected areas. Allow it to dry and leave on overnight. Rinse it off in the morning.

      Swallow burdock capsules (about 2 grams a day, three times a week) to get rid of excess water in the body. Don't take too much as it can lead to dehydration.

      Take dried burdock root by steeping it in boiling water for about 15 minutes. Soak a wash cloth in the poultice and wrap around the areas affected by psoriasis or eczema. Leave on for a few hours then refresh. You can also wrap it around wounds to help them heal faster, but don't put it on open wounds.

      Drink burdock tea about three times a day. This is a safe and healthy way of clearing toxins from your blood and generally purifying your blood flow.
