Homeopathic Remedies for a Sore Throat

A sore throat is a common ailment usually associated with the cold or flu, but it can also be caused by irritants such as smoke or dust in the air. The annoying ailment is most bothersome while swallowing because of swelling and inflammation to the larynx, tonsils and surrounding areas. Most sore throats are no cause for concern, and in addition to over-the-counter medicines they can be treated with a variety of home remedies.
  1. Tea

    • Try drinking a tea made by adding a pinch of cayenne pepper, a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, a teaspoon of honey and the juice from a quarter of a lemon to a cup of hot water.

    Salt Water

    • The old wives tale of gargling salt water can help alleviate a sore throat. You can repeat throughout the day, as needed.

    Vitamin C

    • Crush Vitamin C and add it to water with a small amount of salt and white vinegar.
      Gargle mixture to help get rid of a sore throat.

    Licorice

    • Drinking licorice tea or sucking licorice-flavored hard candy can help with a sore throat.

    Thyme

    • Make a tea by adding five crushed thyme leaves to boiling water. Cover the mixture for about five minutes to let it steep, then strain the thyme and drink or gargle.
