1
Lose extra pounds. Being obese or overweight can cause fatty liver. To reverse the condition, make every effort to shed excess pounds and maintain a healthy weight. Reduce your calorie intake by 500 calories a week, and exercise three times a week for 30 minutes.
-
2
Eat a healthy diet. A high-fat diet contributes to fatty liver. Fatty foods include fried foods, fast foods and junk foods. Trade-in the cookies, candy and potato chips for fresh fruits and vegetables. Limit your intake of sugary foods and lower your carb intake (eat less than 130 grams a day).
-
3
Reduce your cholesterol. Regular exercise and a low-sodium diet can help you maintain a healthy cholesterol level.
-
4
Stay away from alcohol. Drinking alcoholic beverages can cause further damage to the liver. If you have fatty liver, eliminate alcohol from your diet until you've cured the condition.
-
5
Limit your use of medications. Overuse of prescription and pain medications such as ibuprofen and aspirin can damage the liver, and slow the healing process. Talk to your doctor before taking prescription and OTC medications.
