Warning Signs of Kidney Failure

Kidney failure, often referred to as renal failure, is a medical condition where the kidneys essentially stop functioning. And since these organs are indispensable to the removal of waste from the body, this condition can be fatal if not treated. No matter what has caused your kidneys to stop, there a number of warning signs that are often associated with this medical problem.
  1. Change in Urination

    • Even when liquid consumption has remained the same, a person may begin to notice a lack of urine. Sometimes, there will even be no urine produced.

    Loss of Appetite

    • A airly common sign of kidney failure is a change in appetite, usually feeling as if you have no real desire to eat. This may be accompanied by nausea or vomiting, though these symptoms aren't necessarily linked.

    Pain

    • Typically, moderate pain will be isolated somewhere between your waist and ribs on one side of your body, more towards your back than your front.

    Swelling

    • People suffering from kidney failure have also been known to experience a swelling in one or more of their appendages. This particular warning sign ordinarily affects only the feet and/or legs. This swelling can be slight or pronounced.

    Change in Heart Rate

    • This will usually present itself as a faster heart rate than usual.

    Cognitive Issues

    • Cognitive issues can manifest as anxiousness or confusion. There may be an almost overwhelming sense of restlessness that could affect sleep.
