How to Cure Vertigo

You can cure vertigo if you understand what it is and seek to discover it's causes. Vertigo is a feeling of being off-balance or dizzy. There can be many different underlying causes of vertigo, some more easily cured than others. If you suffer from occasional or severe vertigo, you should be seen by a doctor to evaluate the cause and get a plan for treatment. You can cure vertigo in the meantime with a few isometric exercises. Here's the most effective one I learned when I had vertigo.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your hand on your forehead. You can use your fingertips, or the palm of your hand.

    • 2

Press your forehead against your hand, gently but firmly, while trying to keep your hand from being pushed back by your head. You are trying to create counter-pressure by resisting the force of your head with your hand. Neither your head, nor your hand should move. The pressure exerted by both should keep them in balance, resisting each other equally.

    • 3

Hold in place for a count of 10, then release. Repeat this three to five times. This physical pressure helps your body to sense where it is and the dizziness and vertigo will disappear.

    • 4

Repeat the counter-pressure technique. This time place your hand behind your head and resist the movement of your head backward. Hold for a count of 10 and repeat three to five times.

    • 5

Place your hand on the side of your head above your ear. Perform the counter-pressure exercise on each side of the head three to five times.
