How to Treat Bell's Palsy Facial Nerve Disorders

Bell's Palsy is a disorder that renders the nerves in your face numb, leaving you unable to feel anything on one side of your head. The good news is that Bell's Palsy usually goes away within a few weeks, especially in mild cases. There are recommended treatments, however, that can aid the healing process and eliminate the nerve damage source.

Instructions

    • 1

Contact your doctor. He may prescribe a combination of the medicine acyclovir with the steroid prednisone to fight the virus causing the disorder and strengthen the nerve. Don't add over-the-counter drugs without permission.

    • 2

Exercise your facial muscles regularly, especially on the affected side. This includes closing your eyes and raising your eyebrows, smiling and stretching your mouth and attempting to whistle.

    • 3

Keep your face warm and the nerves stimulated. Wrap a scarf or keep a warm pillow around your face and drink plenty of warm liquids. Avoid exposing your face to cold wind. A deep facial massage can also help.

Take plenty of multivitamins, especially ones with B vitamins like B1, B2, B6 and B12. Taking a mixture of olive oil with garlic also helps. Lactose won't help, so avoid milk as much as you can.
