How to Stop Sweats

Sweating is the body's natural response to cool off during physical exertion and hot weather. Some people also sweat when they are under stress or experiencing anxiety. For most people, sweating is a minor annoyance, and nothing to worry about. However, some people experience excessive sweating accompanied by body odor. While simple home treatment and lifestyle changes can be effective against sweating, some people will require prescription strength deodorant to control sweats.

Instructions

    • 1

Try an over-the-counter antiperspirant and deodorant. Experiment with brands, until you find one that works for you. Aluminium-based compounds in antiperspirant block your sweat glands, cutting down on sweating, while deodorant gets rid of body odor. Apply these products every day.

    • 2

Take a daily bath or shower. Use antibacterial soap.

    • 3

Wear clothes that allow your skin to breathe. Materials such as cotton, wool and silk work best.

    • 4

Wear high-tech fabrics such as lyrca when working out, to keep the perspiration off of your skin.

    • 5

Cut down on caffeinated beverages, since they encourage perspiration. Stop eating onions and garlic, if you have issues with body odor.

    • 6

Practice relaxations techniques, such as yoga, acupuncture, massage or meditation. These techniques help cut down on stress and anxiety, and will reduce sweating. Practice them in a stressful situation, or if you begin to feel anxious.
