What to Eat When You Are Nauseous
Nausea is a feeling of stomach uneasiness. The urge to throw up, without actually vomiting any contents from your stomach, may be strong. Nausea can be the result of viral gastroenteritis, pregnancy, and other illnesses.-
Liquids
-
Sticking with fluids is important when you suffer from nausea. Ice chips and sports drinks can help. Taking small sips, instead of gulping your drink, will keep the sensation of nausea to a minimum.
Foods
-
The Cleveland Clinic recommends eating bland foods. Avoid sugary or fried foods. Acceptable food products include crackers, toast, jello, and bananas. Eating large meals when you're sick may also make you feel sick.
Avoid
-
Certain foods will trigger nausea if you're pregnant or have viral gastroenteritis. Caffeine, fatty and overly seasoned foods, and dairy products may make you feel queasy.
