1
Review the checklist for candida albicans in "Resources" section of this article. Give yourself a point for each symptom that you've had for longer than one month.
-
2
Evaluate your diet. If you eat a lot of processed foods and sugary snacks several times a week, you could test positive for a yeast infection.
-
3
Spit into a clear glass of water, making sure you do not cough up mucus, and wait for 15 minutes. If you notice thin projections extending downward into the water, it is likely that you have an overgrowth of candida, or yeast infection. If the saliva looks cloudy and settles at the bottom of the glass, that is another sign that you might have candida.

4
Talk to your doctor about your symptoms. Your doctor will want to know your complete medical history, and will ask about past vaginal infections and sexually transmitted diseases.
-
5
Receive a pelvic examination. Your doctor will exam your reproductive organs for abnormalities and may collect a sample of any vaginal secretions for lab testing.
