Basic Laser Training

Basic laser training is offered to medical professionals such as nurses, physicians, aesthetic and cosmetic surgeons, biomedical engineers and laser manufacturers. Training for laser technology use is offered at organizations such as the Aesthetic Science Institute and the National Laser Institute.

    • Courses for basic laser training will vary by institution and according to the profession in which this type of instruction will be applied. Aesthetic and cosmetic surgeons will receive coursework in skin physiology, histology, and laser and light physics. Cosmetologists and beauty industry personnel usually receive coursework in areas such as Laser Hair Removal and Comprehensive Laser.

    Training

    • Enrollment fees, curriculum and program requirements for laser training will vary by institution. Laser training fees range from $1000 to $2500 and training is usually only available to personnel who will use this technology within their profession. Training classes can last for one day or some programs will take two weeks to complete.

    Certification

    • Laser certification is available to professionals that have completed training and have proven that they are capable of operating laser equipment for medical or aesthetic procedures. Institutions such as the National Council on Laser Excellence (NCLE) and the International Aesthetic and Laser Association (IALA) are two organizations that offer certification.
