1
Apply a motion-sickness patch behind your ear. Scopolamine, the active ingredient, is absorbed through the skin within 4 hours of application. A apply the patch before you feel sick or as soon as you notice symptoms.
-
2
Take a prescription medication. If you suffer from severe motion sickness, your doctor may prescribe a prescription drug. Use only as directed.
-
3
Chew a piece of fresh or candied ginger. Ginger reduces nausea and eases motion-sickness symptoms. Only a small piece is necessary.
-
4
Sip peppermint tea. All mint, but particularly peppermint, is effective in treating nausea. Don't gulp the liquid as this can upset your stomach.
-
5
Nibble on salted soda crackers. The bicarbonate of soda, cream of tartar and salt in the crackers help dry and soothe an upset stomach.
-
6
Wear an acupressure band. Bands such as BioBand apply pressure to a point in your wrist. Pressing this pressure point alleviates nausea and controls motion sickness.
-
7
Stare at a still point on the horizon. The up-and-down motion of vehicles contributes to motion sickness so focus your gaze on an unmoving point to settle the motion.
