How to Lower GPT
Glutamate pyruvate transaminase (GPT), or alanine transaminase (ALT) is an enzyme measured by a blood test. Elevated levels of GPT usually indicate some type of liver disease, but other tests are normally performed to confirm the diagnosis. Other possible conditions associated with elevated levels of GPT include kidney and heart problems, diabetes and infectious mononucleosis.Instructions

1
Lose weight. High GPT levels indicate excess fat in the liver. Regular exercise and eating lower fat and higher fiber meals will help burn fat and keep new fat deposits from storing.
-
2
Stop drinking alcoholic beverages and doing drugs. Eliminating drinking and drugs allows your liver and other organs to function normally, and you don't introduce dangerous viruses into your bloodstream.

3
Review a list of medications you are taking with a medical professional and examine if they are contributing to the problem. Some cholesterol-lowering medications may actually contribute to higher than normal levels of GPT. Discuss options with your doctor before making any changes to existing medications.

Limit sugar intake. Diabetes can be one of the conditions suggested by elevated GPT levels. Regardless of whether you have been diagnosed with diabetes, elevated GPT level due to other conditions could lead to diabetic complications in the future.
