Can the mini pill cause migraines?
The minipill is a progestin-only birth control pill. Progestin is a hormone that is similar to the hormone progesterone that is produced by the ovaries. Progestin-only birth control pills such as the "minipill", can have other side effects including: headache. Although it may rarely cause this it does not appear common or to the scale experienced with certain types of combination (progestin with estrogen) medications like Yaz, Yasmin, Beyaz, Gianvi, Ocella, or Safyral and some older pills containing higher-dose types of estrogen with drospirenone, norethindrone or norgestrel, among others.
