Look for medications intended specifically for migraines. Over-the-counter pain relievers can take the edge off migraine pain, but to effectively relieve pain look for drugs that contain an anti-inflammatory and caffeine.

Consume one 8 oz. glass of coffee or soda. In moderation, caffeine can quickly alleviate a migraine.

Lie down in a quiet, dark room. Bright lights and sound can complicate or worsen a migraine headache.

Apply a cold compress to your forehead for 10 to 20 minutes.

Reduce muscle tension, which can cause a migraine. Take a warm bath, apply a heating pad to your neck or practice relaxation techniques such as meditation or visualization.
