Homeopathic Migraine Remedies
A migraine is a severe headache which brings along symptoms of sickness, as well as sensitivity to light and sound. They can last a few hours or sometimes days. Many sufferers require prescription medication to help the migraine, but there are homeopathic remedies which can help migraines or at least ease some of the symptoms. Since every remedy doesn't work the same for everyone, finding the right home remedy can sometimes be a challenge.-
Movement
-
Since exercising can free endorphins, which is a body's natural painkiller, it is a good idea to go for a walk to see if this will help the migraine. Another option would be to relax or get a massage. Meditating is a great form of relaxation. Having a massage performed on the neck or shoulders to help relax tense muscles can also ease migraine pain.
Caffeine
-
Caffeine is known as an enhancer for pain relief, as well as constricting of the blood vessels, therefore it can be used to help relieve some of the pain caused from a migraine. Drinking some coffee or eating some chocolate is a great way to get some quick caffeine.
Avoiding
-
Keeping a food diary is a great way to eliminate any foods which may bring on or trigger a migraine. Some people have food allergies which cause migraines, while others may not have a food causing the headache at all. Also, eliminating a particular food might not keep a person from having a migraine, but it could reduce the intensity of how major the headache will be. Therefore, keeping a list of what you eat and when can help you decide if a particular food is causing these headaches.
Cooling off
-
Contracting the blood vessels in your head is a common way to help with some of the pain caused from a migraine. This can be done with cold presses placed on the scalp or by taking a cold shower.
Supplements
-
There are many different herbal supplements which may help ease the pain of a migraine. Even though research has not proven these supplements to work, many people believe and use them religiously when they have a migraine. Belladonna is a supplement often used when a migraine is located in the back of the head or if light and sound is a major symptom with the headache. Bryonia is used for migraines located behind the eyes. For migraines located on the right side of the head, Natrum Muriaticum is taken, and for migraines on the left side, Lachesis is taken. However, it is always best to check with a physician before taking any supplements.
