Food That Causes Migraine Headaches

Migraines have a variety of causes. Even certain foods commonly cause migraine headaches. These foods are known as migraine triggers. Migraine sufferers should keep a food log to track what they have eaten prior to experiencing a migraine. Foods that are not common migraine triggers can also cause migraine headaches.
  1. Dairy

    • Dairy products that may cause migraine headaches include cow's milk, goat's milk, cheese and yogurt.

    Meat

    • All types of meat can trigger migraines. This includes poultry. Eggs can also cause migraines.

    Vegetables

    • Migraines can also be caused by vegetables. Tomatoes, corn and onions are possible migraine triggers.

    Fruit

    • Some fruits are common causes of migraine headaches. This includes all citrus fruits, apples and bananas.

    Other Triggers

    • Other causes of migraine headaches include wheat, nuts and chocolate.
