Copaxone Autoject Usage Instructions
The Autoject is an automatic device used to administer the multiple sclerosis medication Copaxone. The Autoject completely hides the needle during the injection process, which may help alleviate any fear of needles that the user may have. With the Autoject placed against your skin, a simple push of a button administers the medication.-
Prepare for the Injection

Apply the rubbing alcohol that is supplied with the Copaxone to the area where you will administer the injection. Unscrew the bottom of the Autoject. Notice the large yellow plunger visible in the top portion of the Autoject. Turn the bottom portion of the Autoject around, place the red end against the plunger and press the plunger into the top until you hear a click.
Insert the Syringe Into the Autoject

Open the blister pack containing Copaxone pre-filled syringes and remove a dose. Do not remove the gray needle cover. Place the syringe in the bottom portion of the Autoject. Push the syringe into the Autoject until it clicks into place.
Reassemble the Autoject

Screw the bottom portion of the Autoject onto the top portion. This is a good time to check the depth of the Autoject. Consult with your health care provider for help with determining the proper depth for the Autoject.
Administer the Copaxone

Place the Autoject against the area of skin where you applied the alcohol earlier. Be sure that the window with the yellow plunger visible. Push the Autoject firmly against the skin so that the top section closes down on the bottom section. Press the button on the side of the Autoject. In the window on the side of the Autoject, you will be able to see the yellow plunger moving. When the Autoject has completed the injection, the window will turn red.
Dispose of the Syringe and Waste

Unscrew the bottom of the Autoject and turn it upside down so the syringe falls out. Place the syringe in a heavy plastic container such as a sharps container available at any drugstore. Screw the bottom of the Autoject onto the top. Replace the red cap on the bottom of the Autoject. Properly dispose of the waste from the injection such as the alcohol swab and needle container.
