What muscles are striated muscles?

Striated muscles, also called skeletal muscles, are composed of individual muscle fibers that appear striated, or banded, when viewed under a microscope. The striated appearance is caused by the repeating pattern of thick and thin filaments within the muscle fibers.

- Skeletal muscles are attached to bones and are responsible for voluntary movement, such as walking, running, and lifting objects.

- Cardiac muscle, found in the heart, is also striated but it is involuntary, meaning that its contractions are not consciously controlled.
