When the triceps contracts what does biceps do?
In the case of the triceps and biceps, the triceps is responsible for extending the elbow joint, while the biceps is responsible for flexing it. When the triceps contracts, it pulls the forearm back towards the upper arm, which straightens the elbow. At the same time, the biceps relaxes, allowing the triceps to do its work.
This coordinated contraction and relaxation of antagonistic muscles is essential for smooth and efficient movement. Without it, we would not be able to perform even simple tasks, such as picking up a cup of coffee or walking down the street.
