Can valsalva maneuver causes muscle hypertrophy?
The Valsalva maneuver involves forcibly exhaling against a closed glottis, which increases intrathoracic pressure. This can cause a momentary increase in blood pressure, but it is not a sustained or effective way to build muscle hypertrophy. Hypertrophy is the enlargement of muscle cells, which occurs when muscles are subjected to repeated, high-intensity resistance training. The Valsalva maneuver does not provide the necessary overload for hypertrophy to occur.
