How do you exercise the serratus anterior muscle?

There are several exercises that can be done to exercise the serratus anterior muscle, including:

Serratus push-ups:

1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and your hands on two dumbbells or kettlebells that are slightly wider than shoulder-width apart.

2. Keeping your back straight, bend your elbows and lower your chest until your upper arms are parallel to the floor.

3. Hold this position for a few seconds, then press back up to the starting position.

4. Repeat for 10-12 repetitions.

Side plank with arm raise:

1. Lie on your side with your legs straight and your feet together.

2. Prop yourself up on your elbow so that your body is in a straight line from your head to your feet.

3. Raise your top arm straight up towards the ceiling.

4. Hold this position for a few seconds, then lower your arm back down.

5. Repeat for 10-12 repetitions on each side.

Prone scapular retraction:

1. Lie on your stomach with your arms at your sides and your palms facing down.

2. Squeeze your shoulder blades together, pulling them towards your spine.

3. Hold this position for a few seconds, then relax.

4. Repeat for 10-12 repetitions.

Supine arm circles:

1. Lie on your back with your arms extended straight out to the sides at shoulder height.

2. Keeping your arms straight, slowly rotate them in a circular motion.

3. Repeat for 10-12 repetitions in each direction.
