What are the 3 different muscle types?
There are three types of muscles in the human body:
Skeletal muscle: Skeletal muscles are attached to bones and are responsible for voluntary movement. These muscles are controlled by the somatic nervous system, which means that we can consciously control them. Skeletal muscles are striated, which means that they have a banded appearance when viewed under a microscope.
Smooth muscle: Smooth muscles are found in the walls of internal organs, such as the stomach, intestines, and blood vessels. These muscles are not under conscious control, and their contractions are regulated by the autonomic nervous system. Smooth muscles are non-striated, which means that they do not have a banded appearance.
Cardiac muscle: Cardiac muscle is found only in the heart. It is a striated muscle, but it is not under conscious control. Cardiac muscle contractions are regulated by the autonomic nervous system and the heart's own electrical system.
