Why is my Achilles tendon hurt in the morning?
Plantar fasciitis: a condition that causes inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue connecting your heel bone to your toes. When the plantar fascia becomes irritated or inflamed, it can trigger pain in your heel or arch of your foot, particularly when you first step down on your foot after getting out of bed.
Haglund's deformity: a bony enlargement that forms on the back of your heel where your Achilles tendon attaches. This enlargement can rub against your Achilles tendon, causing pain and inflammation. When you first get out of bed in the morning, the stiffness and pain may be more noticeable.
Retrocalcaneal bursitis: A fluid-filled sac (bursa) located between your heel bone and your Achilles tendon can become inflamed or irritated, causing pain in the back of your heel, especially when you first start walking or putting pressure on your heel.
Achilles tendinitis: overuse or injury to the Achilles tendon, which can cause pain and stiffness in the morning that may ease with light activity.
Tarsal tunnel syndrome: A compression of the tibial nerve as it passes through the tarsal tunnel, which can cause pain, tingling, and numbness in the foot and heel.
If you are experiencing persistent pain in your Achilles tendon, it is important to see a doctor or podiatrist to get the proper diagnosis and treatment, as some conditions can worsen without appropriate care.
