How to Wrap a Hip Flexor Injury
Wrapping a hip flexor injury properly is one of the most important steps to successfully recovering from the painful condition. In order to properly wrap this kind of injury, one must use a combination of compression shorts and a groin strap to hold the hip muscles in place and prevent them from moving too quickly and becoming re-injured. While it may seem like a difficult task to accomplish each day, it is actually quite simple.Things You'll Need
- Compression shorts
- Groin strap
- Cinch strap

1
Stretch the leg openings of the compression shorts as much as you can. Compression shorts are designed to be small and tight, which will make it harder to put them on at first. Step into the shorts and use both hands to slowly pull each part of the material into place, not stopping until the waistband is comfortably around your waist. The shorts should fit approximately 2 to 3 inches above the knee.

2
Apply the cinch strap to the fastener loop on the side of the compression shorts with the buckle facing forward. Wrap the cinch strap around the quadriceps (front of thigh) muscle of the leg through the buckle until you reach the desired level of support. Buckle the strap to the loop fastener.

Apply the groin wrap. Start by sitting on the edge of a chair. If you are wrapping the right leg, hold the wrap in your left hand and move it up over your left hip area. Bring the wrap around the back of your waist until the hook end is above the right leg. Drop the hook end between your legs and reach around behind your back and pull it back up around the right thigh. Attach the hook end to the loop.

Reverse the process described in step 3 if you are wrapping your left leg to provide stability for your hip flexor injury. By supporting the hip using your waist and other leg, you are preventing the muscle from slipping while walking and allowing it to heal properly. Congratulations, you have successfully wrapped your hip flexor injury!
