How to Strap a Knee Injury

A knee injury can be devastating to an athlete without proper exercise, therapy and strapping to provide support while the joint heals. Strapping the knee correctly will give you a certain amount of mobility and protection while your body repairs. Follow these steps to strap elastic braces around the knee.

  • Knee brace with Velcro straps, available at sporting goods stores, pharmacies and through orthopedic doctors

      Talk with your doctor or orthopedic surgeon about the knee brace best suited for your particular injury.

      Place the front side of the brace over the knee with the brace straps above and below the joint.

    • 3

      Wrap the fasteners behind the leg.

    • 4

      Adjust the lower knee strap, so it is snug beneath the joint to provide support.

    • 5

      Pull the fastening straps tight, and overlap the Velcro to secure the knee strap.
