How to Warm Up a Towel

If you find that you are suffering from joint pain or muscle stiffness, then heat therapy may be the help you need. Use heat therapy prior to physical activity as heat will relax muscles and increase the elasticity of your joints. Relaxed muscles and joints that are more flexible allow for greater movement and reduce the chance of injury. Heat therapy is easily accessible. Simply follow a few easy steps in order to heat a moistened towel to the proper temperature.

Moisten the towel by holding it under hot water. Then wring out the towel using your hands until the towel is damp. Washcloths make an excellent choice for warming as they are small and easy to use.

Microwaves do an efficient job of heating towels to the proper temperature.

Fold the towel. Place the folded towel in the microwave and heat it for 15 seconds. If the towel is not warm enough, heat it for 15 seconds more. Continue this process until the towel has reached the desired temperature. Short periods of time in the microwave are used so that the towel does not get too hot to handle.

Remove the towel from the microwave once it has reached the desired warmth. If the towel has become too hot, let it cool to the desired temperature prior to use.
