Alternatives for Neck Pain Relief
-
Ice
-
Ice can be used to numb neck pain and decrease inflammation as well. Place a handful of ice in a plastic bag that can be tied or zipped. Place the ice directly on the painful areas and leave there for at least 15 minutes. If the ice starts to burn, wrap the plastic bag in a pillowcase and apply again. This can repeated as often as necessary.
Acupuncture
-
The ages-old treatment known as acupuncture, which was developed in ancient China, not only relieves neck pain but also can improve spine mobility. Acupuncture works by placing small needles in the skin where the pain persists. Even though there may be a slight sting, neck pain decreases as the procedure continues. Check listings for professionals who specialize in acupuncture. Continue acupuncture sessions as many times as needed. Do not try acupuncture at home if you are not a professional or experienced in acupuncture procedures and techniques.
Neck Exercises
-
Light regular neck exercise is extremely beneficial in preventing long-term neck pain. Neck exercises should be done consistently and involve movement of all areas of the neck. Start slowly with neck rotations by rotating your head in circles. Do this step for at least two minutes to get your neck relaxed. Next, tilt your head fully backward and hold that position for a minute. Follow up by leaning your head to the left side for a few minutes, then repeat to the right side. Finally, nod your head up and down in a series of 10 repetitions. Do all of these exercises every other day for neck pain relief and relaxation.
