How to Make a Neck Wrap with Beans for Pain
Your sore and strained muscles will thank you for making a neck wrap with beans. The bags are microwavable for an instant heat pad that is great for relieving pain, or you can stick them in the freezer for cold therapy. Give these bean bags as a gift for the holidays or special occasion. Embellish with embroidery or buttons to add flair and style. Choose any type of dry bean to fill your bag, as long as the beans are not rancid or infested with insects.Things You'll Need
- 12-by-12 inch piece of flannel
- 11-by-11 inch piece of muslin
- 1 lb. dry beans
- Essential oils, such as lavender, orange, vanilla or eucalyptus
- Needle and thread

1
Fold muslin in half so that edges are flush with one another. Sew three sides of the muslin together, leaving one unsewn edge open. Pour beans into the muslin bag. Add three to five drops of an essential oil, depending on preference. Sew up the open side of the muslin.

2
Fold the flannel in half with the print facing outward. Sew the sides, but leave the side open that is across from the folded side. Sew the buttons, leaving equal distances between each one, on the inner edge of the open side of the flannel. Press the top piece of flannel down and feel where the buttons are positioned. Insert a straight pin into the top piece to indicate where to cut the slits for the buttons to fit through. Cut a slit that is the same diameter as the button.

3
Insert the bean-filled muslin bag into the flannel bag. Close the opened edge of the flannel by using the buttons. Remove the bean bag from the flannel bag before heating. To heat, place the bean bag into the microwave. Heat on high for approximately one minute. Remove and shake to test the heat level. Reheat at 15-second intervals until you get the desired level of heat. Freeze the bean bag for an alternative to an ice pack. Return the bean bag to the flannel bag before using to protect the skin from spots that are too hot or cold.
