How to Make a Neck Wrap
If you have a sore or strained neck, you can go to a local mall and purchase a neck wrap made especially to relieve tension, but for just a few dollars, you can make one yourself that will work just as well. A homemade neck-wrap can either be cooled in a freezer or heated in a microwave to ease stress and offer relief from sore and aching muscles. Homemade neck wraps also make great, inexpensive gifts.Things You'll Need
- Cotton or flannel fabric, approximately 21 by 10 inches
- Scissors
- Needle
- Thread
- Four cups of rice or flax
Instructions

1
Place the fabric pattern side up on a table and fold it in half lengthwise, so the pattern is facing inward and the wrong side is facing out.
-
2
Hand sew the three sides of the material so it resembles a tube. Keep the stitching about 1/4 inch from the edge and leave 2 inches of the material open.
-
3
Turn the material tube inside out so the fabric pattern is now on the outside of the tube.
-
4
Pour the rice or flax carefully into the tube through the 2-inch opening.
-
5
Tuck the material of the opening so it lines up with the rest of the sewn edge and sew this up so there are no longer any openings in the tube.
-
6
Warm the wrap in the microwave for 60 to 90 seconds if you want heat relief for your muscles. Alternatively, place the wrap in the freezer for one to two hours if you need cold relief for your muscles.
